Kate Walker founded KWD in 2013. Having worked in the tile industry for over 15 years, Kate identified the need for a streamlined solution for busy people who need support with their complete hard finish requirements. With entrepreneurial skills in her DNA, Kate naturally grew the business – seeing opportunities and seizing them with both hands. And with an unrivalled network of manufacturers, importers and trades, Kate is now at the helm of a dynamic team of project managers, interior designers and design professionals.
Well known in the design industry and with an ever-growing social media following, Kate is respected for her unrivalled knowledge of hard finishes and for her innate sense of style. She has the talent and ability to translate a design vision from concept to reality - to match a client’s budget and across any aesthetic.
Kate has now expanded her portfolio to include KWD & Co, an online hard finishes portal, and KWD Access - a platform that makes interior design accessible to anyone, on any budget.

Head of Procurement
Isabelle is an RMIT graduate of Interior Design & Decoration with a particular talent for joinery design. She is charged with bringing Kate’s vision to life on multi-media platforms for client briefings and creating specifications ready for production. She has a true appreciation of functionality and form, and of how the strategic and spatial planning of a kitchen can elevate a design to new heights. The thought process behind her designs is thorough and meaningful with a focused attention to detail.
Claire has a natural flair for project management, staff communication and first-class customer service. Overseeing every aspect of the KWD operation, Claire loves seeing projects progress from concept to completion. Being on site working with builders and clients is where she excels, ensuring that any issues are immediately addressed and keeping everything moving smoothly and efficiently. Every project is tailored to our client’s needs, and Claire makes sure all of these needs are addressed.
Adept at sourcing, negotiating and quoting, Rachel’s event management background helps her meet the demands of tight deadlines and budgets. She works diligently and effectively behind the scenes and her coordination skills are second to none. Rachael liaises with our supply partners, sourcing materials and securing the best possible prices and on time deliveries that work with each project’s build schedule – supporting Claire and the team to deliver the final result on time and on budget.
James has an amazing eye for design and an instinctive talent for space and colour. He understands quality and has a natural way of working with clients, so they feel comfortable and confident with his recommendations. James works closely with Kate on inner metropolitan commercial and high-end residential projects and together their creative skills help clients achieve their objectives across any design aesthetic, from ultramodern to traditional.
Kelly (KP) joined KWD with many years of experience in the design industry, working as a draftsperson before completing a degree in interior design. She brings her multi-layered skill set and calm, considered nature to KWD’s design team. A very practical person, KP loves applying design to sensible space planning. A self-confessed shopping addict, KP is adept at combining the structural elements of drafting and space planning with colour, furniture and soft furnishings to create a complete aesthetic.
Vanessa is such a talent. A qualified interior designer, she is passionate about creating spaces that are a reflection of those who inhabit them so they seamlessly blend with their lifestyle. Vanessa loves mixing classic with contemporary and sourcing the perfect finishing touches to complete a room. A meticulous person, Vanessa’s attention to detail, keen eye and organised mind make her the perfect fit for the KWD team.

A vital conduit between Kate and KWD’s clients, Kelly keeps everyone up to date with the progress of their projects, from consultation to completion. Scheduling timelines with importers, warehousing, freight forwarders and installers that meet our clients’ requirements is a challenge, and Kelly’s management of this process and ensures the smooth running of every project.
Jenny has exceptional administrative skills and is an integral part of the growing KWD team, who all share a great sense of purpose and drive to succeed. She is a passionate organiser and firm scheduler with a strong focus on ensuring that Kate Walker fits as much as possible into every day.
Lynne is our financial whiz. She keeps KWD running smoothly and efficiently, taking care of all the KWD staff and contractors, and managing payroll accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Instagram planning & scheduling
Nicole plays a key role in our talented design team. A graduate from Deakin University of Architecture, Nicole is our head CAD documentor and draftsperson. Innately organised, thorough and particular, Nicole loves the precise nature of drafting and seeing KWD’s joinery designs come to life. Developing the designer’s hand sketches into working drawings is a great skill and is vital for communicating the exact design intent to the builder/joiner.
Holly is passionate about the power of social media marketing as she understands the power it has to allow a company to connect with like-minded people on a more personal level. Holly efficiently communicates with KWD and KWD & Co’ followers via our Instagram platforms. She is also currently studying a Bachelor in Law/Arts.
Meaghan is calm and considered and super organised which are vital skills for managing the KWD’s expansive library of samples – tiles, carpet, timber, stone, pavers, rugs, paint colours, tapware, fabrics and assorted materials.
Hannah joined KWD as a Graduate Interior Designer and is a talented support for the design team. She loves helping clients to create spaces to share with their loved ones, and her innate sense of style and grace is a valuable asset.

- PR & Marketing Manager
Melanie specialises in all things PR, publicity and marketing. She finds exciting and interesting ways of keeping our clients, followers and the public up-to-date with KWD’s projects, products and design innovations. Melanie manages all of KWD’s copy writing and creative communication strategies, liaising with media on all levels, from Australian and international magazines to the press, bloggers, podcasters and national television.
From its inception, Carlo has helped KWD developed an enormous portfolio of successful creative executions, from identity to advertising, property marketing, website and corporate identities. His role as Head of Creative for KWD ensures that all projects uphold a sophisticated, intelligent creative style which continues to add measurable value to the KWD brand in the marketplace.
